Whips Ahoy!

Came back from a dressing change on my foot at my Surgeons office. Everything looks good (I'll spare the graphics) stitches come out in 2 weeks, till then I'm off my feet. I've been a little loopy with pain medications but I've been drawing a lot since I was told to take it easy. Some of those drawings already turned into whips. I don't know what's up with the vegie people (the medications might have something to do with it!) but I like it and I'm going with it. There's some skelly and vegie fairies in there as well. Anyway one of those drawings turned into an ACEO that was inspired by Robert's dog Twinkle over at Halloween Fanatic. I sent him the card and a couple of days ago I received a thank you card ACEO from him which I thought was great and I thought I'd share with with you all.

As you can see Twinkle's figure is coming right along and Robert has laid claim to her already.

Some other drawings have turned into more ACEO's which I might have to hold a give away, whadya guys think?

Another happy development you've probably noticed already with the Spooky Time Jingles badge. I hope to have my first offerings in the next STJ update. One of the offerings might be one of those ACEO's. Check out my new banner from Huckleberry Arts

Here we go again!

Hey folks thanks for all the well wishes on my surgery. I'm happy to say it was success and I'm now back home, elevated feet and all. Right now I'm feeling no pain (thanks to the magic of modern pain medication) and a bit silly. Silly enough to post these pics.
this shot is before sedation. The reason for frown besides the negligee cap? This will be my 9th surgery in 3 years, the fourth on my left foot. The reasons are to long and tedious to go into here. Suffice it to say a casualty of my day job as a Nurse and the complications of an auto accident. It's tragic when the admitting nurse know you by name on sight. Why they make a bald man wear this ridiculous little blue cap is beyond me.
Aaah! the pre-op meds are kicking in! According to the Surgeon it was a success, at least I think I spoke with him after. I'm going to try to rest and keep my foot elevated, Doctors orders!
Doesn't mean I can't draw my fingers off. In closing I thought I'd share one of my favorite past pieces "Drive by".

thanks again for all you good wishes.

Thrilled New Member of EHAG

Im sot thrilled to have been invited and accepted into this talented group of Artist. It was'nt that long ago that I noticed that most of the artist work I admired and inspired me had these funny little initials in their listings. I soon realized it stood for outstanding craftsmanship and creativity. Just recently I congratulated Johanna Parker on her wonderful design for the new EHAG logo, now I get to proudly post it. This is wonderful news is just the thing I needed to boost my spirits before my surgery Thursday and the rehab to follow. My plate IS full but now it's got dressing! LOL. Thank you EHAG.

Where does the time go!

Time does fly! I hadn't realized how much time has gone by since my last posting although, I do make blog rounds and have seen some wonderful work by all. that always gives a boost to my inspiration. I've mostly had my head buried in my work. I finally noticed some flowering in the communal garden and decide to take a little break and share the color.

Hot does not begin to describe the weather down here now. But at least no storms so far.

One of the projects I've been working on is one some of you might remember, the "rattle" or "maraca" mobile. The show dates are getting closer and I needed to wrap it up. It had to be able to break down, for travel and design wise it had to not distract from the pieces it would display.

It's encrusted with carnival glass rhinestones for a little sparkle.

I think those requirements were met and I like the way it turned out. I suppose when not on the road I could use it as a cupcake or cookie stand for a party, Humm? yet another venue, my plate is already too full.

Finally a quick peek at another piece I've almost finished. The scarredy cat, the JOL its actually a miniature luminaria, it's quite fun when she's all lit up.

Unfortunately I'm scheduled for yet another foot surgery next week so I'm even more frantic trying get as much done as possible before my mobility is affected so it's back to work again for me.

Al Dente

Hey everyone,

Haven't been able to blog as much as I'd have liked

due to the Artist As Entrepreneur Seminars, (which thankfully end this weekend). Again a great resource of invaluable information for the artist if in your area. When I wasn't busy doing homework I was either trying to work towards the shows, but mostly I was trying to meet a deadline for a commission.

I must thank those of you who have granted me awards, I'm honored and thrilled my the recognition of fellow artist. I will be honoring others and acknowledging the givers as my increasingly busy schedule permits, so please be patient.

I did want to share the commission I was working on.

It was for my Dentist who most of you know of from my other post of work being done on me. Anyway it was in conversation that I mentioned my art, he went to my website liked what he saw and gave me a challenge. He allowed me free range as long as it related to his practice since he wanted to display it in his office during halloween. After racking my head a bit this is the results of which the Dentist couldn't be happier with.

In between I caught up with the JOL luminarias that i started awhile back and helped inspired "Al Dente". Enjoy and as always your feedback is welcome.

In Appreciation

First off a great big thanks and a hug goes out to Sonia from  The Dark Ravens Nest for featuring me on hear blog. The spirit of camaraderie this fellow artist displays and encourages is to be admired. Lastly thank's to all the positive and encouraging feedback being left by everyone else.

I haven't been able to post as often as  I would have liked since I've been going a little crazy between creating new pieces,  and keeping up with life. Last Saturday was the first weekend in a series of four consecutive weekends that form a seminar called "The Artist As An Entrepreneur". They are long days 9 to 6 and there is a lot of homework but well worth it. Check out your communities cultural affairs board to see if they offer it there. It started in Cleveland, Ohio and has now gone National. The information and resources gained are invaluable. I was even able to get a commission  using their tips

Anyway here are some new WIPS I started and a bad pic of the tree luminarias that I'm wrapping up. I'll post better pics once they and the rest of the last batch are all trimmed up. Back to work and an early bedtime for tomorrows seminar.

Plant a radish! Get a @#*! radish!

Hey Folks,
Been busy catching up on work for fall shows, eBay and hopefully starting an Etsy shop. Sometimes it's seems overwhelming. I haven't listed on eBay for awhile since I was hoping on building up inventory. That way I'l be a little ahead of the game and can concentrate on show pieces. That's the plan anyway but you know what they say about best laid plans. That's was my rant for the day. Pardon Me. And now on to more productive thoughts.
I wanted to share the progress of the last group of wip's . Mind you they are still in their painting stages. First off is the the "Mighty Radish",
seems like this little feller caries a big block on his shoulder.
Then it's over to the Kitty who still has no highlights.
Keep thinking he needs a back ground, like a tree with a moon or maybe a crooked fence. Lastly it's the silly ghost out on the town.
He's still missing his candy container, probably a cat. All in all I'm having fun with this bunch, and it probably will be hard to say goodbye. Meanwhile, back at the ranch I gotta get back to work, since the days just keep on ticking.
