Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

Guess I got a little carried away and made a "forest" of spooky tree luminarias. I can hear Dorothy calling " Auntie Em, Auntie Em! It must have been the medication. I had root canal today so I just rolled with the punches. I also started to paint this feller that's been sitting on my shelf for months. Some how I got sidetracked and sideswiped into other things but eventually we always come back to our babies. He's one of what I call "tea pots" but in actuality it's a candy container since it could never function as a working teapot, unless of course it's an imaginary tea party. Those can sometimes be fun depending who's in attendance. His top comes off and acts as a lid.
I don't know if you can tell with the lighting ( it's been gray for days here so natural lightings not been that good) but he's holding a very angry radish who's punched him out and given him a real "shiner".
No that I'm painting him again the story continue to unfolds.

New kids on the block!

Hello everyone, first of all once again thank you all for the kind words of welcome and encouragement, they are like stokes to a flame. Watch out for the fire. Still raining here great noisy thunderstorms that put you in the mood for sleep, but I've muddling through. So I thought I'd let you all have a sneak peak at what I've been working on lately. The ghost will be holding a banner and lantern I think and the cat will get a nice party hat akimbo from the shock. I know I've been saying it but I will be listing some of the masks along with a few other Items on ebay by the end of the week. Here's a picture of the finished mask with all their trimmings.

The witch and devil I think are my favorites, still haven't decided if they will be getting a new home

AWOL not!

Hey all,
I've been a bit awol lately. Between my dental work and the Monsoon Season starting I've been dragging behind. It's not hard when the outside looks like this, it goes on for hours and days!!! I'm not complaining mind you we could really use the rain. We've have an ongoing severe drought,
hopefully we'll have a wet season hopefully sans Huricanes! they're such a bore.

Anyway I've been having studio envy with some of you since as most of you know I work out of my 1 bedroom condo. The dining room has been officially requisitioned but even that is becoming tight. I finnally had to move all the furniture except the dining table into the living room, essentially turning into a studio. I tried to make every inch of space count with shelves and additional tables, but I keep producing. It's a good thing. Here are some pictures of the chaos in action.

As you can see I went with the general consensus on the Masks and will be selling them mostly as wall art. But they are really great on! I'll probably be listing the first batch on eBay this weekend. By the way I noticed a lot of you use Etsy,  is that a better option or another venue? In the corner my cabinet of curiosities. Actually its part of my vintage Halloween collection that got relocated during the studio maneuvers, a bit tight don't you think. Anyway I off to work again I've got an awful lot of catching up to do.

Ouch!

Hey everyone thanks for the feedback. I'll probably go for a combination with the masks. Ouch is because I just got back from the dentist who performed and extraction and two bridges. The anesthetic is starting to wear off. Been a little under the weather lately so I've fallen behind a little, but I did complete these fellers. I apologize for the poor photo, at least I thinks it's poor (could be the medication) I'm going to try and finish the mask to post on eBay this week, see what kind of reception they get there. You guys have been fabulous with the accolades.

Sidetracked Again!

Thanks for all the hello's and followers. Last time I posted I was in the grips of a sidetracked Idea
the "Rattle Mobile". Managed to get back on track finishing off the pieces in progress when a figure holding a mask got me thinking. Sidetrack #2 "Masks". I'm enjoying it, but I can't decide on how to sell them. Wether as wearable or mounted on a stand. You see the  face cast I use is of a former me (younger, svelter...) I'd have to adjust the nose and such for more room. My worry is visibility. Call me paranoid but, I see a liability. I know, I know, Disclaimer! Needless to say these are not for children and I'll state as much but...
Any any ideas welcome. I think the JOL mask is a little creepy. Kinda like "pumpkin killer" or "squash slasher" the mind wanders. Well time to get back from the sidetracks and finish up.
Oh by the way Happy 5 de Mayo!

A begining

Well here goes! I noticed a lot of Artist whose work I admire are posting here so I decided to join in. I"ll be linking my website to the post as soon as time permits. I guess I'll start with what I'm up to in the Studio (if you can call it that), I'm currently working out of my 1 bedroom condo. The dining room, what's left of it, keeps shrinking as I keep expanding. I suppose anywhere one creates can be considered a studio annexed or not.
Anyway one of the things i create are halloween rattles out of old maracas. As you can see, their display left a lot to be desired. So after much thought and a little ingenuity I came up with a solution for some upcoming gatherings and gallery shows.
I kind of had a vague idea of some kind of tiered system that would allow their viewing and still be user friendly for buyers to handle them for a test run. I like recycling items as much as possible so an old lazy susan rigged in some way cam to mind. First I kept a lookout on my thrift shop runs, (not much picking these days) all the dealers seem to be hovering over out-coming bins like vultures, but I digress. On my way back from somewhere I stoped in on a neigborhood haunt on a hunch, and lo and behold, the beginings. The huntch kept at me and I went to another shop and darn if lightning didn;t strike twice.  After rounding up my finding at home I cam up with this simple drawing as a starting point and out came the power tools.
After a couple of runs to the hardware store for the always forgotten item a put together what I think is a pretty interesting interpretation of the drawing and I think a display solution. I'll keep ya posted as I progress and once I figure out how to place these images where I want them!!
